This months book we are reading is The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton.
A foundling, an old book
of dark fairy tales, a secret garden, an aristocratic family, a love
denied, and a mystery. The Forgotten Garden is a captivating,
atmospheric and compulsively readable story of the past, secrets, family
and memory from the international best-selling author Kate Morton.
Cassandra is lost, alone and grieving. Her much loved grandmother,
Nell, has just died and Cassandra, her life already shaken by a tragic
accident ten years ago, feels like she has lost everything dear to her.
But an unexpected and mysterious bequest from Nell turns Cassandra's
life upside down and ends up challenging everything she thought she knew
about herself and her family.
Inheriting a book of dark and intriguing fairytales written by Eliza
Makepeace - the Victorian authoress who disappeared mysteriously in the
early twentieth century - Cassandra takes her courage in both hands to
follow in the footsteps of Nell on a quest to find out the truth about
their history, their family and their past; little knowing that in the
process, she will also discover a new life for herself.

August Book Club
There is a powerful technique called the Overton Window that can shape our lives, our laws and our future. It works by manipulating public perception so that ideas previously thought of as radical begin to seem acceptable over time. Move the Window and you change the debate. Change the debate and you change the country.

March Book Club!
This month is a Robyn choice! We are gonna read A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini and March 8th is the day!
Summary of the book taken from goodreads.com
Inside Afghanistan from the Russian invasion to date. The intimate tale of two women whose paths cross and the friendship that evolves. It is the tale of their struggle to survive - the violence, fear, treatment of women, and the need for humans to find and enjoy small pleasures in life.
Deeply moving, well written, interesting reading. Raises the reader's awareness of the religious beliefs, moral choices, and harsh, tragic history of the Afghani people.

We had fun!
Book Club this month was great! We read Midwives by Chris Bohjalian. We ate yummy food at Texas Road House and chit chatted. The consensus was that the book was good and everyone liked it. It was a little hard to read for the pregnant folks though, but even they still liked it. Overall it was a great choice. Looking forward to reading next months book.
